How to know which Limited Slip Differential (LSD) is which?
13th April 2004 Tuesday
During the overhaul process it was unknown what type of LSD was it. So right after the LSD is rebuilt, the pictures are immediately compared against the KAAZ pictures from www.club4ag.com, which is: -
So, I've got 4 clutches and 2 cone springs, the 1 washer is much smaller and is immediately discounted when comparing to the picture above, because it only have all same size clutches and whatever.
Lets count this one. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, where the 1st 6 seems to be clutches, hmmmm then ....... more than mine..........
So, mine is not KAAZ - meh heh heheh heh hheh e what a disappointment :(
So what LSD is mine?
Using google's images search found not many results, so every result was looked into and found my LSD to be TRD. Why? What determines it?

Notice the 6
leg similarity with mine

This is from a Celica - Notice the shell is rough surface - looks like TRD style. Then the hole in the middle.

Notice the 2 holes next to center with 8 holes to lock the ring gear - 8 holes separated by equal spacing.

Notice the minor changes to the middle 4 pinion gears having allot more cups, pins, holder. The clutches with outer legs are exactly same, but the clutches with inner legs are more this time. It is still a total of 6 discs per side.

Finally
- this one makes the kill.
So this means the previous question of why my LSD does not look like the LSD from T283 rear axle is answered now.
Conclusion : the LSD in my possession is a TRD 2-way
