TRD 2-way Limited Slip Differential Cleaned
12th April 2004 Monday
After every single bit is removed and placed in sequenced. They are washed / cleaned using petrol fuel and the result is: -
It is then rebuilt in reverse order to the way it is dissect.
After everything is installed back into the rear axle with new oil: - Bardarhl SAE 140 + TransX LSD Posi Trac additive. The wheel is turned many rounds manually by hand to make sure the oil reaches every clutches and pinion gears.
The LSD torque is re-measured to check before and after cleaning / rebuilt effect, and the results are: -
no more .... the torque wrench max out at 100 lbs/ft. From the way it clicks, I reckon the pre-load (if it is called correctly) has increased from 55 lbs/ft to 120 lbs/ft. Over 100% increase.
Could it be the new oil or the combination of new oil and cleaning??? Will perform a check in the future upon changing oil only.
When turning one wheel the opposite wheel engages literally immediately. Only slack by 1 cm or so.
All in all, well worth the effort .... . ... . . .. .. . well worth the effort .... . ... . . .. .. .
