Front Brakes Upgrade to RX7-E-FD3S

16th February 2004

After giving up the FD's caliper on 101's rotor onto 86's Hub. The complete FD upgrade is reconsidered.

This time instead of mounting the FD's rotor outside the 86's it is mounted behind it just like the original rotor.

The un-preferred usage of a custom caliper bracket which bends 90 degrees 2 times will have to be used.

A mock-up of the assembly has been made to check if the FD's rotor will clear the 15" rims and also if it will clear the FD's caliper.

On quick inspection everything fits. However it is clearly known that the caliper is touching the rim's internal, therefore a closer inspection is made.

Zooming in on the mock-up of the assembly to check for other things besides if the FD's rotor will clear the 15" rims and also if it will clear the FD's caliper. Like how to make the caliper bracket, where to locate the caliper, how much clearance between the caliper to rotor, etc etc etc.

On closer inspection, it reveals that this is going to work. A little modifications here and there but all possible. Better - much better than the previous. Front Brakes Upgrade to RX7-E-FD3S
