Ultra Racing Strut Bars Services

14th April 2004

The first time I saw a Ultra Racing Strut Bars was on a Proton Satria GTi back in 2002. My god it's so big, so bulky, so monstrous, so ugly :( I am not going to install this onto my car. There is no such need.

But as time pass and seeing more and more of them, I cannot but help to admit that they are solid, extremely well built, much stronger than regular strut bars. The white color they choose is also very beautifully powder coated. All in all very very good products.

Finally.

Two months back my office was moved and I finally have a opportunity to drive fast to work at 160 every morning and evening and going out to see clients far away, instead of stuck in traffic jams everyday.

Two months and my car finally gave into chassis decay. I could not confirm if it was the chassis breaking down or that the TiTAN Suspension is finally giving way and dying. The tires were also worn badly down to red level.

Knowing TiTAN Suspension is the toughest in the world :) I am putting my bet that it is not the suspension although the car's handling, ride, comfort is terrible. Extremely bad.

Tires and Chassis were put to blame, but work was so busy that there was no time to change tires nor send the car in for chassis repairs.

But................

Just last month I got in contact with Calvin Tong of Ultra Racing to help him carry a pair of "Fender Bars" and "Front Towers 3 Points" to Kuching, Sarawak. I bought a pair of "Fender Bars" for myself but did not have time to install them.

Street ShootOut 1 dot 5 is around the corners and I really need to do something about my car. I call up Calvin and blackmail him to install everything for me and I'll make a nice write up else :) hhehehehhee EVIL ME :) hahahahhah

Anyway, Calvin was very accommodating, he managed to pull off a swap car deal while fixing mine and settle everything in two days.

I took the opportunity to get another favor from Calvin, which was to take my new fenders to spray paint and mount it and throw away the old ones. The old ones was damaged from accidents and have not need properly repaired and spray painted. I pay for the spray paint myself.

During replacement, Calvin found that the previous accident could not accommodate the new fender and took my car to a nearby mud-guard knocker for repair. I paid for the repair of course, not covered by Ultra Racing.

Ultra Racing also found that one of my chassis joint was completely damaged and made repairs free of charge because it's done at their shop. That's one nasty big hole.

Thank you Calvin for delivering such good product, and top it up with world class services. I am truly impressed and indebted to write you an excellent review.

Aftermath

After installing Ultra Racing Strut Bars complete products. My car feels very firm. The first surprised I got by simply reversing my car out of the shop is that my TiTAN Suspension is re-born. They feel so dam good, so firm, I cannot imagine the difference can be so great.

Taking the car for a quick drive reveal improvements on all factors, acceleration, braking stability, cornering body roll reduction, high speed stability is incredible, my suspension feels like NEWwwwwwwwwwwwwww.

Previously the front right tower would stress and stretch and the caster angle is 1.5 degrees when the car moves forward where it pushes the suspension backwards.

When the car reverse the suspension is pulled forward and caster angle increase to 2 degrees. This is especially dangerous during driving because it would move and the behavior of the car would immediately change.

After using the "Fender Bars" the problem does not appear anymore.

Side Notes

My chassis is rusty, abused, not properly kept / maintained. Installing Ultra Racing Strut Bars gives tremendous improvements. I would not dare to say the same for well kept vehicles.

Due to the difference of before and after is significant on my case. Please do not take as 100% reference for modern well kept cars.
