Suspension Upgrade Journey
Part 9 - Wheel to Hub - CENTERer
28th October 2004
Often the wheel is not centered properly to the hub, due to many reasons.
1. the person who install the wheel did not secure the bolts / screws in a proper manner.
2. the wheel simply isn't straight and suffered some bending???
A quick and simple way to solve this problem is to buy and install a thing simply called a "CENTERer" so that when installing the wheel it is forced to center itself to the hub.
The benefit of doing this is that the wheel suffers much less vibrations, especially those who use double spacers.
It is known that this also reduce allot of vibrations on front wheel drive car. The fact that using a "CENTERer" eliminates the very fundamental source of vibrations. On-wheel high speed balancing is also made easy after this upgrade.
My favorite suspension set (www.titansuspension.com) was suffering some ill behavior, but the problem was immediately remediate after installing the "CENTERer".
Two out of four of my wheel "lugs" broke because I use double spacer and did not have the "CENTERer" to help hold the wheels to the hub. The extra distance cause all the stress to be placed on the lugs themselves and broke around two weeks after installation.
