Suspension Upgrade Journey

Part 4 - Shopping

9th April 2003

In the morning I bought NGK BKR6EVX High Performance Platinum plugs at the same time asked for rubbers / bushing for the front chassis / arm / anti-roll bar / what-ever..... all of what they could supply anyway from: -

Syarikat Aik Heng Motor & Engineering Supply (spare parts shop)

Tel : +60(3)-7957-1357

for front: -

  1. 2 pieces of lower arm bush (8.50 x 2)
  2. 4 pieces of torsion bar bush (2.50 x 4)
  3. 2 pieces of stabilizer bush (3.50 x 2)
  4. 8 pieces of link pin bush (0.60 x 8 )

for rear: -

  1. 4 pieces of absorber bush (0.80 x 4)
  2. 4 pieces of coil spring rubber [thickest] (7 x 4)

many more missing :( will try to get them later. KE70 is getting old, no one stocks these spare parts anymore :(

The rubbers / bushings look genuine. Had TC and code numbers imprinted on them. TC = Toyota Corporation ???

The coil spring rubbers were extremely thick. This immediately gave me the idea that my rear would not "sink" down as much on the "too short" TRD coils previously acquired and could pass the height requirement. I don't know but will try these new rubber.

At night. Tony, an old friend took us (Bill Sherwood, Yoga & gf, Peter Lee and I) to visit a mech. / modifier to acquire AE86's coilovers with camber adjusters.

Once reached there were plenty of AE86 aftermarket products, like TRD rear axles never seen before, rims, anti-roll bar, sway-bar etc all aftermarket. Man just looking at them makes you droolllllll.

Anyway before the mech. could sell me the coilovers (with Bill's personal moral support and safe-guard) I force him to sell me the AE86's front strut top coil's "pan". I literally took it without his permission but PAID him for it. Devil me :) Hey I was desperate for these more than a girl OK!

With this coil pan, I now start to dream about using the TRD front coils previously acquired. muah hahahahahahahahahahah

  1. Upgrade Rear Absorber to TRD
