Engine Tilting

20th October 2003

Part 2

The engine is further tilted. A plate is removed from the exhaust side mounting. This was placed to increase the engine height so that nothing hits each other.

After the plate is removed, the engine immediately looked tilted. Good. Nothing seems to be in the way. We think. Start car and drive.

Oppppppsssss. There is significant vibrations from the accelerator pedal, clutch, brakes and seat.

The car was raised to look for rubbing between metal to chassis or whatever. After much search. It is found that the air-cond's compressor is resting on the bottom sway bar.

The mechanic ask if to grind the sway bar or cut the compressor's mounting? The compressor's mounting was decided to be surgical_ed ehheheehe

Pictures to come later.

After that no more vibrations. The gearbox doesn't seem to be as straight or fit as before??? I think. Will have to fix that mounting later. Dam perfectionist problem

Aftermath

Even the mechanic before and after much grumble said there are firmer torque delivery to the ground, felt through the ground to the wheels to the chassis to the chair to the body.

As before, 3rd gear seems to benefit the most. 2nd and 4th have small improvement. 1st gear have the least improvement feel during acceleration. However 1st gear feels very strong and torque at extremely slow speed. Or in short from stand still to slowly moving. There is a very strong feel, like it's a V6 of something. But after that when accelerating, disappointment. No more strong feel, until engage of 2nd gear, then feel suddenly more, 3rd is more prominent as said.

Woo hooo yippy
