Rear Axle's Control Arms & Rod
4th August 2004
Part 2
Why are they needed?
Thanks to local racing driver "Adian" group messenger nick "The_Yein" in Race Rally Research MSN Group as well as forumer nick "Adian" in www.zerotohundred.com for un-selfish sharing of information and guidance.
This all started when the rear axle was found: -
-0.1 camber for rear left tyre - assume sitting in the car facing forward
+0.2 camber for rear right tyre
a bit toe in for rear left tyre
zero toe in for rear right tyre
Why is that so???
After much discussion with various groups of friends. The answer finally found from Adian. It is due to lowering of the car's height that the pan hard rod is pushing the axle outwards to the left.
picture to illustrate
It is no wonder why the rear left toe in as well as weird camber combination.
The solution is the shorten the pan hard rod to exacting length. This calls for adjustable units. Modifying the existing unit is most cost effective.
Below, pictures for pleasure. Full report on next page.
