FREEDOM - fully-programmable stand-alone ECU by E&E Systems Inc
4th February 2006
Thanks to Rahmat for borrowing me experience it in my car. Never would I imagine having such opportunity and luxury of testing and evaluation. The pleasure is ......... unspeakably ......... thankful.

This particular unit was bought as used though numerous ownership. The previous owners are suspected to be incapable of mastering the software tuning and gave up miserably. It was finally bought by Rahmat at RM xxx without notebook communication and software. When ask about the workability condition? the seller said no problem and that "autotune" will take care of everything. The seller wants another RM150 to be paid later for the communication cable with notebook and software. Fair, lack of cash now, Rahmat will get it later. Since the promise of "oh mighty autotune" will work.
After parting, my friend Rahmat went home happily and installed it into his proud Silvertop. At first the car could not start. After numerous attempts it started... hastily. Roughly..... it could drive too..... choking, coughing ...... it was nightmare. shocked and disappointed. The despair of RM xxx gone ...... in worst than flames ...... in carbon this time .... out through the mouth of the exhaust muffler.
He immediately contact the seller, however the seller could not be found. It is unfortunate although no lost of the other RM150 but no software, no communication cable. How to change the fuelling and ignition in the ECU?
Through faith and luck he managed to contact Moto P of www.club4ag.com and received his morale and technical support. Thanks to Moto P. Rahmat is now taught how to make the communication cable and the FREEDOM software sent to him by Moto P. Thanks once again and many many grateful thanks.
With it Rahmat starts to see what's inside. Slowly mess with the setting. Slowly the problem goes away bit by bit .... but it's still not yet perfect. Not yet 100% street-able, as it often have a small jerk at low throttle, low rpm. Full throttle never gave any problems.
After some time, he managed to communicate with a Japanese FREEDOM user, named CHARAN a Toyota Starlet 1990s owner (EP82). See his website http://www.geocities.jp/ep82kaispl/index2.html and received another support through the form of fuel-map sharing. The problems are gone....... fantastic. But after a few days, the problem came back.... he now starts to suspect some other issues as the problem also occur on standard OEM ECU.....
Also thanks to MASAFUMI INADA, Mazda MX5 Miata owner with FREEDOM too. Great website, recommended by Rahmat. http://homepage2.nifty.com/mas-i/index.html
Many many thanks to Mr RAHMAT FAIEZ, his wonderful brother, for the Japanese word translation and emails for various parties in Japanese and involved in collecting information about the ECU.
Another Japanese helper, but don't know real name, only knows forum nick name called AE86 Yarou, whom also help with fuel mapping.
According to Rahmat, all of them gives thoughts and opinion bout the ECU and how to set.
Regardless.... we wish Rahmat all the best in the endeavor and help to come whenever faith permits.
Rahmat can be contacted through email,corolla20v@gmail.com
